Today marks an exciting day for us all here at MYOB – the next step in building our next generation accounting solutions.
We’re now more than half way through investing our 3-year, $75 million innovation fund; and we’re delivering some really exciting products to market.
Today’s releases include a new version of Australasia’s most popular accounting software, MYOB AccountRight Standard and AccountRight Plus and the introduction of a new version of our market leading Mac product: MYOB AccountEdge.
These releases also mark the first stage in the establishment of the new MYOB Business Platform. This Platform will make cloud solutions more convenient, accessible, relevant and profitable for Australian and Kiwi businesses. By combining the speed and function-rich capability of a desktop application with the connectivity and mobility of the internet we’ll offer SMEs the choice to work online or offline and the ability to move between the two whenever they want.
Today’s launch of the new AccountEdge for Mac is also supported by MYOB’s first iPhone and iPad app. Available as a free download from Apple’s iTunes store, AccountEdge has been designed to operate the way our Mac users do – in highly mobile, flexible working environments, with a focus on accuracy, great presentation and effective business management. You can now take your business software out of the office and on the job – wherever that might be. Designed to integrate seamlessly with your desktop, the new, easy-to-use apps open up an entirely new way to run your business. We’ve said all along that our job is to make business life easier for Aussie and Kiwi SME’s and this app will bring the convenience of having access to essential data and information into many busy business owners’ hands.
We’ve also built our AccountRight Plus and AccountRight Standard products on the .NET SQL codebase, using an agile development methodology that allow us to continually make rapid improvements as customers request them. New features in both of these products have been designed to increase usability and help users become more productive, while offering the flexibility to customise information and reports. I’m confident you’ll love having flexible and faster search capabilities, a simplified End of Financial Year and an easy to use Command Centre – to name just a few.
But the best news is that this is just the beginning. While today we’re rolling out new desktop apps – these apps have been built for the Cloud. As we roll out the MYOB Business Platform and cloud connectivity over the upcoming months, these solutions will offer more choice for business owners in how and where they work, whether it’s from their desktop, in an online environment, or from a mobile device. They will enable business owners to work more closely with their trusted advisors – accountants, banks and partners. And they will be designed to allow businesses to get the support they need as they grow or develop.
The one thing that won’t change is our commitment to robust and reliable development, that’s backed by the expertise that comes with over two decades of creating products and services specifically for the Australian and New Zealand market.
So please head over and have a look at our new releases, and some of the great new features we’ve included. I’d love to hear what you think!

This is great news! I was seriously thinking of switching to one of the cloud based competitors before hearing this news a few months back.
On my way now to download the apps from iTunes.

Thanks Heath! We’ve had some great feedback about the app so far – and would love to hear your thoughts once you’ve given it a test run!

More than happy to do this Emma.
Will play around with it next week. I’m on the monthly plan for Account Edge which I purchased a few months back the Sales person said I’d have access to this new version when it came out.
Assuming I need to run the new version before I can connect and sync with the Apps. How do I go about upgrading to the latest version?

You’re on the ball! Correct, the cover subscription automatically entitles you to upgrades as soon as they’re released. There’s lots of new features for version 11 of AccountEdge – the pdf under ‘Features’ on this page explains them in more detail.
And if you need some more info on the mobile app, you’ll find it here.
Enjoy!

This is great news for MYOB and business. It’s the perfect middle-ground between businesses almost ready to move from their desktop solution but not quite ready to move completely into the cloud.
Moving your books and business into the cloud can seem like a pretty daunting thought for a lot of people, so combining both worlds is a great step to help businesses along that journey.

When will there be iphone/ipad apps for AccountRight? Or will we need to move from PC to Mac?

Hi Sue. iphone/ipad apps for AccountRight are on the way. Our AccountRight cloud vision recognises the benefits of apps over web interfaces so we’re looking forward to getting mobile apps to market. No date at this point but stay tuned.

Love the look of the update, cant wait to start playing around with it. The most important thing I would like to know is are you ever planning to change the State Payroll Tax reporting function to be able to report on all states. Our employees work all over australia on different contracts from short term to a couple of years so we need to pay state payroll tax in more than one state and find it extremely confusing to work out at the moment. Besides that I love MYOB and enjoy using it daily.
