If your data file has become corrupt and you don't have a valid back-up you can request the data file repair service.

This service is available for Classic AccountRight versions, such as AccountRight v19 and earlier, and AccountEdge.

What is a data file corruption?

Essentially a data file corruption means your company file contains incorrect information. This may have been caused by network or environment related issues. If your data file is corrupt you may be experiencing the following error messages. Please click on each error message to learn more about them.


Is my data file corrupt?

To check if your file is corrupt, you can run the following two diagnostic utilities. These utilities will check your company file for any structural damages and data integrity.

Important - To ensure the results are correct, we recommend that you perform these processes only while your company file is stored on the local hard drive of the computer.

If you cannot optimise or verify successfully, your data file may be corrupt and you'll need to restore your most recent backup. If you don't have a valid backup you can request your data file to be repaired.

Important - Repairing data files is a complex procedure and therefore we cannot guarantee that we'll be able to repair your file or that all data will be retrieved.

* Each file submitted will be charged one fixed Analysis & per hour repair charge. If a file can’t be repaired or it doesn't have any errors, only the analysis fee will be charged.


How Do I request the service?

From time to time, it may happen that a password previously entered into a company file becomes unknown. This may be due to changes in staff or due to the password being mistyped at the time it was set.

To overcome this issue, a Password Reset is required. You must send your company file to MYOB for this task to be undertaken.

This service is available for all AccountRight, Accounting/Plus, and AccountEdge versions.

We may be able to extract or reset your company file password, but this will depend on your product version.

  • For data files previous to MYOB Accounting/Plus V14 and Premier V8 we can extract the password and notify the registered MYOB contact.
  • Due to increased password protection we can only replace the existing password and return the data file to you and advise you the new password for MYOB Accounting/Plus V14, Premier V8 data files and any future releases, including AccountRight 2011 and later.

How do I request the service?

Having an incorrect serial number embedded in your company file will cause issues with product activation and confirmation. For more information on product activation and confirmation, please refer to Product Activation FAQs.

Your data file may contain an incorrect serial for a number of reasons.

  • Files prior to MYOB Accounting/Plus V14 & Premier V8 do not require serial removal service. Once you upgrade this file to the latest version, you will be asked to activate this file.
  • Your file may require the Serial Number removal service, if your file is currently using MYOB Accounting/Plus V15, Premier V9 and later, including MYOB AccountRight 2011 and later.

To overcome this issue, you can send your company file to MYOB to perform a serial number removal. Once we've completed this service, you'll be able activate your data file with the correct serial number.

This service is available for all AccountRight, Accounting/Plus, and AccountEdge versions.
