Microsoft Windows Vista
On 30 January 2007 Microsoft released Windows Vista, worldwide. It is now available as an upgrade from software retailers and will be loaded on new PCs shipped by major manufacturers.
Windows Vista is the next generation of Microsoft Windows and represents 5 years of development by Microsoft.
This effort by Microsoft has involved considerable changes in Windows. These changes may have an impact on the software and hardware you now use.
Plan your Vista transition
It is wise to carefully plan any transition and test a new configuration before using it as a critical piece of your business systems.
MYOB recommends you:
- Consider the timing of any transition carefully – do you need to move to Windows Vista immediately? Do you really need to be among the first to move to Vista? Would it be better to wait until others have proven the way forward?
- Experiment with Vista on a PC not critical to your business – you should be satisfied that all the software and device drivers you depend on work with Vista
- Only make the move to Vista after you have verified that migrating to Vista will not interfere with any of your key systems.
This is the approach many corporations and governments are taking to ensure there is no risk to their vital business systems.
Windows Vista has been extensively tested by Microsoft. However today’s PC is a complex combination of hardware and software from a variety of sources and no one can be 100% confident that every single combination will work with Vista in every circumstance.
